Facing the house

Enter via the atrium, seen here front to back. The ceiling soars above the large dining table. Doors near the table lead to the north and south wings.

See the pool?

The cabana has a separate bathroom and shower

Turn left from the atrium as you face the pool, to the kitchen. It's generously equipped, has granite countertop, large sink and spray spout, fridge with through-the-door ice, dishwasher, glass-top stove with oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, and blender. Cabinets hold linens, silverware and servingware, plates, pots and pans.

Down the hall from the kitchen is the guest bathroom with marble countertop and oversized shower. It's just past the full-sized stacked washer and dryer.

Further down the hall is the air-conditioned guest bedroom, with 8-foot sliding-glass door facing the Pacific.

Turn right from the atrium as you face the pool: the living room. Its sliding-glass door faces the pool and lanai. It has high-backed sofa and chairs and a DirectTV system.

Down the hall from the living room is the master bathroom with its designer sink in a custom cupboard.

At the far end of the master bathroom is the unique outdoor shower (in a redwood enclosure for privacy).

At the end of the hall is the air-conditioned master bedroom with queen-sized bed, with 8-foot sliding-glass door facing the Pacific.

At the front end of the atrium a spiral staircase leads up to the observation deck: great place for a morning beverage.

The observation deck offers dramatic views of the ocean and, often, both volcanos.
